Architectural Overview & Case Study

Developed in collaboration with Marlon Velasco, this Internet of Things (IoT) flood monitoring system provides automated early hazard warnings for communities and households. The device continuously measures rising water levels, displays real-time telemetry locally, and dispatches instant threshold-based alerts to smartphones.

Key Features & Hardware Architecture:
• Team Collaboration: Co-designed and developed by Luisito B. Velasco Jr. and Marlon Velasco, covering embedded firmware development, hardware assembly, and cloud dashboard configuration.
• ESP32 Microcontroller: Runs optimized C++ code managing multi-threaded sensor polling, WiFi connectivity, and cloud payload dispatching.
• Precision Ultrasonic Sensing: Measures real-time water elevation/distance to evaluate flood threat levels (Normal, Warning, Critical).
• Dual Warning System: Features a physical active buzzer for local acoustic alarms and an I2C OLED screen for live status visualization on the enclosure.
• Blynk Cloud Telemetry: Transmits sensor data over WiFi to Blynk Cloud servers for remote live monitoring and analytical gauge tracking.
• Push Notification Alerts: Automatically triggers mobile push notifications directly to users' phones upon reaching critical water thresholds.

Technical Stack:
Embedded C / C++, ESP32, Blynk IoT Platform, Ultrasonic Distance Sensor (HC-SR04), I2C OLED Display, Active Buzzer, WiFi Telemetry.
